Art Print Round-Up

Observant Nomad | Print Round-Up

I’ve been in the living room re-do mode for the last few weeks and have finally gotten to the point where I get to hang beautiful new art on the walls. Let me tell you there are a lot of places to get prints! I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite art prints hoping you could weigh in and tell me which one you like best.

Right now, I’m especially drawn to Mark Rothko or Matthew Tischler for their abstract expressionism. And I’m not usually an Andy Warhol fan, but the American Indian has the right amount of color and style to keep it cool. I keep going back to the Moon Phase print, but maybe she’s more suited for the bedroom.

Geometric shapes make my heart race. And if you follow me on Pinterest, you know this is no new obsession. So after I started my new living room project, gold geometric decor sounded like the perfect accessory.

New Sofa? New Living Room.

January 7 2013

Confession. I’m one of those gals who spend hours wish-listing beautiful interior design websites, all while (uncomfortably) sitting on my free and worn out couch. So for Christmas this year my parents decided to help me get rid of the giant sad thing in my living room, and help me buy a new sofa!

As you know, a new sofa changes a whole room. It demands the highest attention of all who enter it’s presence. And my current space doesn’t really match the couch I want. The walls are robin egg blue and everything mismatches in a thrift-store kinda way. Besides, there’s just something about a new year that makes us crave the new, right? Mine’s a new living room re-do.

I’m one of those people who spend all night after my full-time job, on the computer working on side projects, surfing the internet, and pinning great finds. Whenever I work on freelance projects I spend nights under the harsh bulbs of my kitchen table or sunken into my thrift store couch. No bueno.

Ironically, I whole heartily believe that creating a beautifully designed surrounding inspires quality work (so what have I been making?). So I decided one of the things I wanted to do for myself (and my freelance clients) was to build a new space dedicated solely to cultivating my creativity.

To get brainstorming on what kind of space I wanted to build, I started scouring some of my favorite interior design blogs to get ideas for the types of workspaces I liked, or exactly what kind of feeling I wanted to achieve.

I found out that I’m really drawn to big open spaces with great natural light, white, white and more white, drafting tables, and obviously I adore Eames Molded Plastic Chairs. What are some of your favorite workspace finds?
