Three Words : Creation, Adventure, Nourishment

Three Words | creation adventure nourishment

After a year of blogging, you can bet I’ve had weeks where I find absolutely nothing to post about. The source of my frustration being a lack of unique content to bring to the table. I can think of what inspires me but it was always difficult to see how they connected into a cohesive blog.

It wasn’t until last night that I realized the Three Word concept. Every blog has about three words or less that they can use to describe the content they deliver on their blog. I decided to try and find my three words from the content I have already enjoyed creating.

I rounded up my favorite posts and consolidated them into smaller and smaller amounts of groups until I had only three. I came away with the key concepts that drive my blogging. Creation, adventure and nourishment.

CREATION. As a designer, photographer, and overall creator I have to be making, collecting, crafting or well… creating something all the time. I studied fine arts in college and eventually changed over to art direction/design which is how I make my living now. So it naturally makes sense that creation or anything under that umbrella should be on my blog.

ADVENTURE. With nomad in the title, it should be obvious that travel is very important to my identity. I spent most my youth and college years exploring the world. I started this blog as a way to capture that sense of wonder and excitement I get traveling, into my everyday life. So even though I can’t jump on a plane every week, I’m going to try to bring more sense of adventure to the blog.

NOURISHMENT. After thinking hard about what kind of new content that I want on Nomad, I decided nourishment would be a great way to describe it. True nourishment from celebrating your surroundings. Think creating a dinner party menu for friends, or building a herb garden in your home. Nourishing your home, heart, and hearth are all important things that I truly enjoy doing for myself and others.

This exercise has helped reinvigorate my blog’s purpose and also given me a great foundation to build upon. I can describe my blog’s content in quicker terms and can use these three concepts to guide all types of future columns and posts. I spent time last night brainstorming some new features, and I can’t wait to share it with you all very soon!
